How Communities and Professionals Can Enhance Our Response to Domestic Violence
Rockland County STOP F.E.A.R 2026 Criminal Justice Conference
The Gabby Petito Foundation is committed to driving real change in the fight against domestic violence and missing persons. Inspired by Gabby's legacy, our mission is to take action on the front lines, partnering with organizations and equipping communities and first responders with the tools, training, and support they need to prevent and respond collectively to violence, and to protect those at risk.
Gabby’s story made national headlines as the world looked for her, praying she was still alive. In response to her death, the Gabby Petito Foundation was born. Her story has inspired people around the world and will continue to help others be free from the dangers of intimate partner violence.
Nichole Schmidt and Tara Petito, Gabby Petito’s mother and bonus mother, have dedicated their lives to honoring Gabby’s legacy through advocacy, education, and prevention. Since Gabby’s tragic loss, they have become powerful voices for victims, survivors, and families affected by domestic violence and missing persons cases.
Through their work with the Gabby Petito Foundation, they focus on raising awareness, supporting organizations that assist in locating missing persons, and advancing efforts to prevent domestic violence. Together, they share Gabby’s story to inspire action, promote education, and drive meaningful change with the goal of saving lives.
